In fairy tales, the number three has always been the magic number. A king has three daughters, the princes’ tasks usually consist of three challenges, and Grandpa Wise Man had three golden hairs more than he met the little mermaid.
There are also three heroes in our new production. And what's more, they are brothers, just as it should be! They are mighty strong men. But until now, they've been hiding their strength from the outside world. They’ve spent their whole lives at home. At home with their mother.
She took care of them, did their laundry, cleaned, and cooked delicious meals for them. The three brothers lived quite happily, like pigs in clover. And they just couldn’t bring themselves to leave the family nest. But one day, their mother had had enough. She told them they had to go out into the world. To seek experience. After all, when there are three brothers, just like in a fairy tale, that's what’s expected of them.
And as fairy tales go, she baked them pastries for the journey and gave them some advice. The most important, of course, was the third and final piece of advice: "Remember, you will only be truly strong when you unite your forces!" But the three brothers probably either didn’t hear this advice or didn’t understand it when they left. Because as soon as they left home, each one set off in a different direction. It took some time before their paths finally crossed again, and they understood that working together was the key to success.
This fairy tale comedy for the whole family is about the idea that strength isn’t everything and that pulling together is worth it. The play was written by the Liberec playwright Vítek Peřina, who has collaborated with Alfa Theatre many times before. Once again, the director of the production is Tomáš Dvořák.
